Ota Sensei,

Hello from Massachusetts (USA). Thank you for sharing your class videos and lecture notes with the online community. The content is excellent!! I've recently begun attending your virtual classes every day...they've been an invaluable resource in revitalizing my Japanese studies.

It is my sincere hope that you will continue to make your classes and notes available online.

Respectfully,

Your new virtual student

Hello Professor Ota
First, let me say I find your Japanese language site at York University a highly effective learning tool. All of the resources on it are excellent and well organized. .... Matthew Langille

Hello Ota sensei,
-----
I had a great time in Japan this summer, and now I know for sure that I want  to go live in Japan in the future. I didn't improve my oral skills as much as  I had hoped, but I definetely broadened my understanding of Japanese culture. Again, I can't stress enough how well your classes prepared me for this trip. Not only in terms of the language, but also the understanding of the culture  (which is essential to learn the language).
-----
Thanks again for this great oppurtunity you've given me to appreciate the Japanese language and the depth of Japanese culture.
Wishing you the best,

Emilie Masson

Dear Ota sensei, I just wanted to congratulate you on a great class, you made the lecture really interesting and developped my interest in the japanese culture even greater. Hopefully I'll be able to get a spot in next year JP2000 class. It's quite incredible that you and all the other professors were able to do in such a short period of time, I am really impressed that I can now read, write and speak simple japanese.
Thank you once again,

Karoly Tajnay

Hello Ota-sensei,

Just a quick note to thank you for the wonderful web site.  I can't believe its there and that its free.  I've just returned from Japan after a ten-year stay and my Japanese is still embarrassingly poor.  I wish the site and the internet had existed when I first arrived in Japan years ago...everything is there!  So once again, thank you so much.

Regards,

Jacques Lepage

 Fri, 26 Apr 2002:

Hello, my name is Todd Larson. I am employed as an tech/ systems auditor at Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu in Tokyo, Japan.
I graduated from Washington State University last summer, and began my career with Tohmatsu last August.

Although I lived in Japan for 2 years long ago as a Mormon missionary, and my wife is Japanese, I have been seeking out the most structured study tools to assist me in my efforts towards effective literacy in the Japanese language. I speak only Japanese at home, and in the office at all times, but lack the level of fluency, or writing skills that I desire to utilize in the multinational corporate environment in Tokyo's financial district.

As I prepare for the Japanese Language Proficiency Exam - Levels 3, 2, and finally 1 (in sequence), I have been searching online for effective study tools. Well, I just now found your website at York, and felt compelled to write you an email of gratitude.

I have studied Japanese at the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah, and at my university, but have never seen such a thorough, and effective interactive learning forum as the one you took so much time and thought to develop. What impressed me the most was your program's willingness to share the course materials online for anyone with the desire to learn. Outstanding!

With gratitude and respect,

- Todd Larson
